Honda has produced this short documentary explaining the importance of robots and how beneficial their role will be in the future.  However, the biggest challenge they face is not the technology, but rather people being scared of them.

Coming out of the most recent TED conference, Paul Debevec shows the future of how we are going to animate humans - clearly the most challenging of the elements due to subtle nuances that our species notices so immediately i.e. wrinkles and subtle muscle nuances.  They created a way of lighting the subject and studying the reflection of that light to get a proper "mold".  Basically watch this video and be prepared to have your jaw open at the future.
